14 Days of Popcorn: Churro Caramel Popcorn

This week is a crazy week for me. I am training to become the PTA book fair chair for my son’s school. Tuesday I spent almost 12 hours at the school selling books.

Luckily Wednesday and Thursday will be a bit less crazy, but I’m not going to lie, I’m getting tired! It is fun work and I love helping the school so I will keep doing it.

But this weekend will be the perfect weekend for lots of movies and popcorn so I can just be lazy! Today’s popcorn is the perfect super sweet treat for a family movie night: churro caramel popcorn!

I created this popcorn for my husband. He loves churros and all things cinnamon. This popcorn makes me think of carnivals and fairs and summer. Eating a churro while strolling around the county fair.

Isn’t summer awesome? But since we are so far away from summer here, I’ll have to settle for churro caramel popcorn and a family movie!

I love the sweet cinnamon sprinkled on the outside of the caramel popcorn. It adds a little crust to the popcorn so you get a little crunch without spending the extra time baking the popcorn.

Now you can get be ready to watch your movie before the previews are over! Perfect.

Gingerbread House Ornaments

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Active Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Estimated Cost: $1-$5

These adorable paper gingerbread houses remind me of old-fashioned hanging gingerbread cookies. They look so pretty on a tree, or decorating packages.

Instructions

  1. Cut open a paper grocery bag.
  2. Pull off the handles, then cut the seam out of the center back.
  3. Cut the bottom off.
  4. Trim it down to 12 x 12 inch pieces for a Silhouette Cameo, or 8 1/2 x 11 inch pieces for the printer.
  5. Smooth out any creases.
  6. Cut the 3 pieces on the gingerbread house template from the brown paper bag per ornament.
  7. Fold the paper ornament pieces along the dotted lines.
  8. Fold the roof pieces of the paper gingerbread house.
  9. Glue the smallest piece to the front of the medium piece for the roof bottom.
  10. Glue the medium piece to the back of the larger piece to attach the roof.
  11. Glue down the side flaps to secure.
  12. Glue the flaps on the underside of the roof to the back of the house.
  13. Glue together the base of the gingerbread house by first gluing the flaps on the bottom to the front.
  14. Then secure the flaps on the sides.
  15. Finish by adding glue to the flaps under the roof, and lay flat to secure to the underside of the roof.
  16. Cut out the gingerbread house decorations out of white cardstock.
  17. Use a glue stick to attach the decorations to the paper gingerbread house ornaments.
  18. Thread a piece of twine through the holes for hanging.
